First Parish Email Lists

Our email lists make it easy to stay in touch with the First Parish community. Email sent to a list is sent to everyone on that list. Email addresses that are not on the lists cannot send email to the lists, and will not receive email from the lists. The two lists are for different kinds of messages. You are welcome to sign up for one list, both lists, or neither. If you just want official FP notices, sign up for fplexbiz. Please do not send the same email to both lists. There is no subject matter that is appropriate for both.

When responding to an FP list message, please take care when addressing your reply. For example, if a committee chair asks for volunteers for an event, please reply only to the sender. Let's not clog up everyone's inbox with replies.

The lists are self-service. If your email address changes, you can update your address on the lists either by resubscribing via email or editing your Yahoo account profile.

fplexbiz A moderated list for First Parish news, events, and announcements only. A detailed description of appropriate content for this list is provided below.
fplexchat Unmoderated list for other topics that are relevant to the the First Parish community.
 

Using the email lists:

 
Posting Messages To send a message to all of the members of an email list, send an email to:
[listname]@yahoogroups.com
(example: fplexbiz@yahoogroups.com, or fplexchat@yahoogroups.com)
Subscribing To subscribe to any email list, click on the name of the list above to send an email to:
[listname]-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Alternatively, Yahoo members can surf to the groups' homepages to join: fplexbiz, fplexchat.
Unsubscribing To unsubscribe from an email list, send an email  to:
[listname]-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
Questions/Comments If you have any problems or questions regarding these lists, send an email to the list manager at:
[listname]-owner@yahoogroups.com
Appropriate content for fplexbiz messages:
  1. Announcement and coordination of First Parish events.
  2. Breaking news directly related to First Parish programs, activities, or the church community.
  3. Messages related to candidacy for elected positions at First Parish (only if sanctioned by the Nominating Committee).
  4. Requests for congregational input from committees and other First Parish groups
  5. Information regarding outside events that are in any way supported, sponsored, or  sanctioned by First Parish (or by one or more of its committees)
Not appropriate content for fplexbiz messages:
(Send it to fplexchat!)
  1. Information that is not directly related to First Parish.
  2. Information on transactions (e.g. items for sale or items wanted)
  3. Outside political messages except as in point #5 above
  4. Announcement of outside events not directly related to First Parish
  5. Articles and readings except when sanctioned as above
