First Parish Lexington presents Artist’s Talk with photographer Zoe Perry-Wood

Lexington’s First Parish presents award-winning photographer Zoe Perry-Wood in an upcoming Artist’s Talk on Friday, February 27. Doors open at 7:00 pm for viewing, with the artist offering commentary on her work beginning at 7:30pm. The event takes place in Parish Hall, and admission is free.

Perry-Wood’s talk will given alongside an exhibition of selections from the portrait project of the Boston Alliance of Gay Lesbian Transgender Youth (BAGLY) Prom, on view at First Parish through March 9th. An image from the BAGLY Prom series is currently at the National Portrait Gallery in London having been chosen for the Taylor Wesson Photographic Portrait Prize Exhibition. Images from the BAGLY Prom project were also part of The Fence, a summer-long, outdoor, juried photography exhibit on the Rose Kennedy Greenway and shown at Kinsey Institute at Grunwald Gallery of Art, Indiana University.

Zoe Perry Wood describes herself as a social documentary photographer who investigates and documents mainstream groups as well as non-conforming subcultures. Early works focused on street corners, cafes and subways, and the artist currently has several ongoing portrait projects, including a series focusing on women aging with pride. Perry-Wood holds a BFA in photography from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Her work has been featured in solo, group and juried exhibitions throughout the country. She resides in Lexington, MA.

Welcome!

It's great to have you here. First Parish is a Unitarian Universalist church, located on the Battle Green in Lexington, Massachusetts. Here's something we say together every Sunday to remind us of what we're all about:

Love is the doctrine of this church.
The quest for truth is its sacrament,
And service is its prayer.
This is our great covenant:
To dwell together in peace,
To seek the truth in love.
And to help one another,
To the end that all souls shall grow
Into harmony with the divine.

Our worship, the warmth of our community, our programs, our music, our focus on children and youth, and our work in the world make First Parish a very special place. We hope you'll come see us. Here's some good information for first time visitors.
